Plan To Protect ® - Easy Reference

1. STAFF MEMBERS: To become a staff member of the children’s ministry and receive your personalized name tag, all staff must complete the following:

  • Plan To Protect ® training
  • Application form
  • Criminal Record check
  • Interview

2. NAME TAGS:  Everyone entering the children’s area MUST wear an identifying name tag.                                    *NO NAME TAG=NO ENTRY*

  • Children - wear group color name tag with their name on it.
  • Nursery Children - no name tags - name stickers on backs for those we don't know.
  • Staff - wear personalized name tags if completed the above screening.
  • Staff - wear ‘may I help you’ name tag if not completed the above screening.
  • Visitors - wear visitor name tag - any one who is not a child or staff and is there simply for the interest of helping their child or a guest youth helper.  *They are not to be asked to look after any other children.*

3. SIGN IN/OUT SHEET:  Everyone entering children’s area must be signed in on the sign in sheet.

  • Staff - sign in staff section for appropriate service.
  • Adult or youth visitors - sign in visitor section for appropriate service.
  • Children - parents must sign child in and out to admit and dismiss child from room.
  • Nursery - parents are given a number assigned to their family.  If parent is needed, please use the number instead of names.
  • NO CHILD CAN LEAVE THE CLASSROOM UNSUPERVISED.  IF A CHILD DOES LEAVE PLEASE IMMEDIATELY BRING THE CHILD BACK TO THE CLASSROOM.

4. VISITORS:

  • Wear visitor name tag.
  • Sign in at visitor section of sign in sheet.
  • Only interact with own children.

5. NEVER BE ALONE WITH A CHILD OR GROUP OF CHILDREN:  (If you are alone in a room for some reason, LEAVE DOOR OPEN, REMAIN VISIBLE TO OTHERS!)

6BATHROOM:

  • We do not change diapers - please call parents to take child to do so.
  • We do not take children to bathroom - if they can’t go by themselves we will contact parent for help.
  • Children will use bathroom in children’s area unless their parent has to take them.
  • Supervise child going to bathroom - to ensure that when child comes out they are not lost and rejoin the group - but remain visible to others. (If craft room is empty, then simply stand in doorway between the two classrooms so others can still see you).
  • Never enter the bathroom unless another staff with personalized name tag is present.
  • Never enter the bathroom and close the door.

7. WATER FOUNTAIN:  Children cannot go to water fountain by themselves regardless of age.  Please supervise them in hallway.  (not because the child is incapable but because we don’t know the people that are in the hallway!)

  • Check sign in sheet for allergies before starting any food activities.
  • Staff, children, or visitors will not bring any food or drink into children’s area.
